IAM Local 18 chartered May 1, 1999 with roughly 100 members. Currently that number has grown to nearly 600 members. Local 18 members work on contracts that service the United States Navy T-45C “Goshawk” training aircraft and systems. Our members service the aircraft, the aircraft’s engines, ground support equipment, flight simulation machinery, as well as, operate fueling vehicles and systems. There are currently 84 aircraft assigned to Training Wing 1: NAS Meridian. Local 18 also has members at two other sites in or near Meridian. We have 1 member at Key Field ANG Base in Meridian that works on the CH-47 flight simulator. Also, there are 2 members that work in Jackson, MS at the ANG Base on the C-12 aircraft.
